This article explains how to configure the Pie Chart widget in the Bazefield BI Manager. For a general overview, see the (BETA) Pie Chart Widget article.
Accessing the Configuration
To configure a Pie Chart widget, click Edit in the application toolbar to enter edit mode. In edit mode, each widget shows a gear icon (⚙) and a delete icon (🗑) in its header bar. Click the gear icon to open the configuration dialog.
General Tab
The General tab contains the core configuration for data sources and output settings.
App Linked Data Sources
This section shows data sources linked to the application. Data sources are organized in tabs by type:
- Points — Standard metric data sources with columns for Name, Asset Types, Attributes, Points, Calculations, and Time period.
- Allocations — Energy allocation data sources (may show a "Built-in" badge).
- Cases — Case/event data sources for counting occurrences.
Use Link Data Source to App to connect an existing data source, or Create new Point Data Source for App to create one inline.
Output Configuration
- Choose a Data Source type to display — Select Point, Allocations, or Cases from the dropdown.
- Divide chart by — Select the grouping attribute (name, country, region, technology, etc.).
- Metrics — Displays the linked data sources with a Default column to choose which metric to plot. Click the delete icon (🗑) to remove a data source.
Advanced Tab
The Advanced tab controls the chart's visual appearance and includes a live preview.
- Height — Widget height in pixels (default: 300px).
- Display total of all slices — Toggle to show the aggregate total value.
- Display data labels — Toggle to show value and percentage labels on each slice.
- Display legend — Toggle to show the color legend below the chart.
The Preview panel on the right updates in real time as you adjust settings, showing exactly how the chart will appear.
Widget Interactions Tab
This tab configures how the widget communicates with other widgets in the same application.
Subscribe to Context
Enable Object Selection to make this widget react when another widget (the "producer") publishes a selection. When subscribed, the Pie Chart automatically updates to reflect the producer widget's current selection.
When you subscribe to context, this widget will update automatically when the selected producer widget publishes changes.
