Power Plant Controller (PPC)
The Power Plant Controller (PPC) is a core asset type in the Bazefield platform representing a PPC at a power plant- is a centralized control system used to manage and optimize the output of multiple generation units, taking into consideration local grid conditions and requirements. Each PPC asset in Bazefield is uniquely identified and associated with a parent site (e.g a “wind farm”, “solar farm”, etc.), as well as multiple generating assets. Most sites will only have a single PPC, but it is not uncommon to have multiple, for example at hybrid sites, or sites with multiple phases of construction or asset types.
Functional Description
The Power Plant Controller monitors real-time data from individual assets such as turbines, inverters, and battery systems, and issues control commands to ensure the plant operates within grid requirements. It regulates active and reactive power, manages ramp rates, and supports frequency and voltage control. The PPC also facilitates communication with grid operators and integrates with SCADA systems for supervisory control. The Power Plant Controller in Bazefield exists within the AC Power Layer (see Domain Categories for a broader description of the AC Power layer and related assets across different power plants), specifically within Energy Management.
Core Data Model
While the data model of individual power plant controllers may vary by vendor, Bazefield offers a pre-installed CORE data model to account for the most common points and attributes relevant to all makes and models of circuits. Domain, vendor, and model variations are then handled typically through smart Model Inheritance.

Core Attributes
Attributes are fixed key, value pairs used to represent non-time series data associated with each asset (read more about Attributes). While attribute values can differ from asset to asset, critical shared (e.g. CORE) attributes defining a circuit asset type, pre-installed in Bazefield are described below. These are often pre-requisite data required for the Bazefield applications to function fully.
Required for basic Bazefield Core functionality
Optional attributes for common additional modelling
Depending on your version of Bazefield, there may be additional advanced attributes not listed here to support data integrations or migrations with other systems.
