Circuit (CKT)

The Circuit is a core asset type in the Bazefield platform representing a circuit at a power plant- it  refers to an electrical pathway that connects AC-generating assets within a renewable energy facility. It plays a critical role in the transmission of electrical power from these assets to the high voltage substation.  Each circuit asset is uniquely identified, and typically would have several “child” assets, comprising of inverters, power conversion systems, or wind turbines.

Functional Description

Circuits enable the transmission of energy from generation points to substations, facilitate control and monitoring signals between devices, and ensure safe and efficient operation of plant infrastructure. Depending on the application, circuits may include protection mechanisms, switching devices, and sensors to support operational reliability. Circuits in Bazefield are used within the AC Power Layer (see Domain Categories for a broader description of the AC Power layer and related assets across different power plants), specifically to group generation assets.

Core Data Model

While the data model of individual circuits may vary site by site based on local SCADA requirements and integration, Bazefield offers a pre-installed CORE data model to account for the most common points and attributes relevant to all circuits.  This is mostly comprised of simple electrical telemetry (e.g. voltage, current, power).  Site by site variations are then handled typically through smart Model Inheritance.

Core Attributes

Attributes are fixed key, value pairs used to represent non-time series data associated with each asset (read more about Attributes). While attribute values can differ from asset to asset, critical shared (e.g. CORE) attributes defining a circuit asset type, pre-installed in Bazefield are described below. These are often pre-requisite data required for the Bazefield applications to function fully.

Optional attributes for common additional modelling

Depending on your version of Bazefield, there may be additional advanced attributes not listed here to support data integrations or migrations with other systems.
