For customers with stringent cybersecurity requirements like **NERC CIP**, Bazefield supports an **OT Jump** configuration. This setup uses two Bazefield systems: one within the plant-level SCADA environment and another within the IT network, with secure data forwarding between them. ## Details ### **Bazefield SaaS (Cloud)** In the standard **Software-as-a-Service (SaaS)** model, Bazefield is hosted and managed by Bazefield in **Microsoft Azure**. This option provides the fastest time to value and the lowest infrastructure overhead for the customer. - No customer-side hosting or hardware required - Fully managed by Bazefield (including updates and backups) - Ideal for organizations that prioritize simplicity and scalability --- ### **Customer-Hosted (On-Premises or Cloud)** Bazefield can also be deployed in the customer’s own **data center** or **cloud environment**. This option gives the customer full control over the infrastructure and is often chosen for alignment with internal IT policies or regulatory requirements. - Backend servers are deployed and maintained by the customer or system integrator - Compatible with private cloud, public cloud (e.g., AWS, Azure), or on-premises servers - Greater flexibility over network, security, and integration --- ### **Hybrid OT/IT (On-Premises or Cloud)** The **Hybrid OT/IT** model supports systems where OT servers, like Edge Buffers, are deployed in the field and managed by the customer, while IT servers like the Proxy Node and Web Server are hosted using one of the two options above: Bazefield SaaS or customer on-prem/cloud. - Designed for large, distributed environments with centralized monitoring - Enables separation of OT and IT zones for enhanced security, especially for customers with strict **NERC CIP** requirements - Ideal for use cases involving **Asset Control**, remote management, and critical infrastructure ## Comparison Table | Feature | Bazefield SaaS (Cloud) | Customer-Hosted (On-Prem/Cloud) | Hybrid OT/IT (On-Prem/Cloud) | | --- | --- | --- | --- | | **Hosting** | Bazefield-managed Azure environment | Customer data center or cloud | OT on-prem, IT components hosted by customer or Bazefield | | **Infrastructure Ownership** | Fully managed by Bazefield | Fully managed by customer or integrator | OT owned by customer; IT managed as per hosting choice | | **Maintenance & Updates** | Handled by Bazefield | Customer responsibility | Split responsibility depending on component location | | **Time to Deploy** | Fastest deployment | Varies by infrastructure readiness | Moderate (more planning for segmentation) | | **IT Overlay Support** | Yes | Yes | Not applicable (OT-focused edge layer) | | **OT Jump Support (NERC CIP)** | No (unless integrated into Hybrid) | Yes (with custom configuration) | Yes – specifically designed for this use case | | **Edge Buffer Support** | Possible with OT integration | Possible with OT integration | Full (core to architecture) | | **Asset Control / Remote Ops** | Possible | Possible | Fully supported | | **Security Control** | Bazefield policies | Fully customer-controlled | Segmented OT/IT zones with higher isolation | | **Scalability** | Medium to High with OT integration | Flexible (depends on infrastructure) | High, especially in large or multi-site setups | | **Best Fit Scenarios** | Fast deployment, low IT overhead | Regulated industries, full IT control | Utility-scale plants, Remote Ops Centers, critical infra |
