Select the asset type for your report: - Data displayed in the report can come from the chosen asset type or from its child asset types (see hierarchy in the Object Manager). Example: You can create a **SolarFarm** report and display **Inverter** data inside it. However, if you create an **Inverter** report, you won’t be able to display **SolarFarm** data. **Asset Model (optional)** Depending on the selected asset type, you may specify one or more asset models. This allows you to build reports tailored to specific asset models. **Asset Picker Options** These settings define how users can select assets within the reports: - **Hidden**: No asset picker is shown. The asset is pre-configured when the report generator is deployed to the menu. - **Single Select**: The asset picker is available in the report designer, but users can select only one asset at a time. In the report generator, the user will be able to select only single assets reports - **Multiple Select**: The asset picker is available in the report design, and users can select multiple assets at once. In the report generator, the user will be able to select only multiple assets reports - **Retain asset filter :** When this option is enabled, the selected asset is preserved when navigating from the current report designer to another report designer of the same type. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/a0786c0f-b171-4b24-8860-c32eb7ef2738/Images/Documentation/image(744).png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-06T20%3A47%3A56Z&se=2026-11-06T21%3A47%3A56Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=p4iT8ADCNLarcnp4SboGf0t8vR9CIGGOt1EKVBHn9fo%3D) #### Example Configurations **Example 1** - Asset Type: **Turbine** - Asset Model: **V90** - Asset Picker: **Multiple Select** 👉 The user will be able to select multiple **V90 turbines** (within their permissions, see [Set Permission & Access](/product/docs/permission-access)), in the dashboard. **Example 2** - Asset Type: **Inverter** - Asset Model: *(none specified)* - Asset Picker: **Single Select** 👉 The user will be able to select any type of **Inverter** (within their permissions, see [Set Permission & Access](/product/docs/permission-access)), but only one at a time. #### ![](https://cdn.document360.io/a0786c0f-b171-4b24-8860-c32eb7ef2738/Images/Documentation/image(341).png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-06T20%3A47%3A56Z&se=2026-11-06T21%3A47%3A56Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=p4iT8ADCNLarcnp4SboGf0t8vR9CIGGOt1EKVBHn9fo%3D) Time Configuration - **Interval** : This setting defines the time interval available when generating the report. The user can now create sections (see [Create/Edit a View & Section](/product/docs/createedit-a-view-section)), create a widget Grid (see [Create a Widget Grid](/product/docs/create-a-grid)), link datasource ( [Link Data Sources to Applications](/product/docs/link-data-sources-to-applications)) and add widgets (see [Widget Configurations](/product/docs/widget-configurations)) . Next step after creating a report is to configure it. See [Configure a Dashboard](/product/docs/configure-a-report)
