# Create Data Source

#### **How to Create a Data Source**

1. Open the **BI Manager Application**
2. Navigate to the **Data Source** tab.

3. Click the **Create Data Source** button (top-right corner)

4. Select a **Type** from the following options:
  - [Point](/product/docs/point) – for time-series data from sensors or systems
  - [Availability Statistics](/product/docs/availability-statistics), – for uptime/availability tracking
  - [Asset Attribute](/product/docs/asset-attribute) – for static or descriptive asset data

1. Enter a **Name** and select an **Asset Type**. *(Description is optional)*

2. Configure your datasource. For details on configuration fields, see [Data sources Configurations](/product/docs/data-sources-configurations)
3. Click **Save & Publish**. To learn more about publish vs draft status, see [Version control workflow](/product/docs/version-control-workflow)

**Result:** Your new data source is now available under the **Data Sources** tab.
