Select the asset types for your report: - Data displayed in the report can come from the chosen asset types or from their children asset types (see hierarchy in the Object Manager). Example: You can create a **SolarFarm** report and display **Inverter** data inside it. However, if you create an **Inverter** report, you won’t be able to display **SolarFarm** data. **Asset Selection** These settings define how users can select assets within the reports: - **Hidden**: No asset picker is shown. The asset is pre-configured when the report generator is deployed to the menu. - **Single Select**: The asset picker is available in the report designer, but users can select only one asset at a time. In the report generator, the user will be able to select only single assets reports. - **Multiple Select**: The asset picker is available in the report design, and users can select multiple assets at once. In the report generator, the user will be able to select only multiple assets reports ![](https://cdn.document360.io/a0786c0f-b171-4b24-8860-c32eb7ef2738/Images/Documentation/image-PCIX0VSF.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-07T02%3A06%3A24Z&se=2026-11-07T03%3A06%3A24Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=F3kD%2FKuKYnSk%2Bw5YttFF5Sd%2B2LbgAtGA0VJsl5WYTgg%3D) #### Example Configurations **Example 1** - Asset Type: **Turbine** - Asset Model: **V90** - Asset Picker: **Multiple Select** 👉 The user will be able to select multiple **V90 turbines** (within their permissions, see [Set Permission & Access](/product/docs/permission-access-2)), in the dashboard. **Example 2** - Asset Type: **Inverter** - Asset Model: *(none specified)* - Asset Picker: **Single Select** 👉 The user will be able to select any type of **Inverter** (within their permissions, see [Set Permission & Access](/product/docs/permission-access-2)), but only one at a time. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/a0786c0f-b171-4b24-8860-c32eb7ef2738/Images/Documentation/image-LJCQ06CB.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-07T02%3A06%3A24Z&se=2026-11-07T03%3A06%3A24Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=F3kD%2FKuKYnSk%2Bw5YttFF5Sd%2B2LbgAtGA0VJsl5WYTgg%3D) #### Advanced configuration **Asset Model (optional)** Depending on the selected asset types, you may specify one or more asset models. This allows you to build reports tailored to specific asset models. **Retain asset filter (optional)** When this option is enabled, the selected asset is preserved when navigating from the current report designer to another report designer of the same type. **Allow assets from datasource (optional)** When this option is enabled, the selected assets are preserved when navigating from the current report designer to another report designer, even if the target report does not include a datasource with the selected asset type. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/a0786c0f-b171-4b24-8860-c32eb7ef2738/Images/Documentation/image-F75HKVY6.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-07T02%3A06%3A24Z&se=2026-11-07T03%3A06%3A24Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=F3kD%2FKuKYnSk%2Bw5YttFF5Sd%2B2LbgAtGA0VJsl5WYTgg%3D) #### Time Configuration - **Interval** : This setting defines the time interval available when generating the report. For example, if ‘Monthly’ is selected, the report generation page & the report designer will only allow month-based selections. *Note : If interval Yearly is selectioned, the user has the possibility to set the start of the year for the time interval, this is a usecase encountered in fiscal years.* ![](https://cdn.document360.io/a0786c0f-b171-4b24-8860-c32eb7ef2738/Images/Documentation/image-ROD5XO7H.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-07T02%3A06%3A24Z&se=2026-11-07T03%3A06%3A24Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=F3kD%2FKuKYnSk%2Bw5YttFF5Sd%2B2LbgAtGA0VJsl5WYTgg%3D) ![](https://cdn.document360.io/a0786c0f-b171-4b24-8860-c32eb7ef2738/Images/Documentation/image-1JZZYMKR.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-07T02%3A06%3A24Z&se=2026-11-07T03%3A06%3A24Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=F3kD%2FKuKYnSk%2Bw5YttFF5Sd%2B2LbgAtGA0VJsl5WYTgg%3D) #### Read-only view configuration Enabling this option will allow all users to view the configuration of each widget in the report, without being able to modify it. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/a0786c0f-b171-4b24-8860-c32eb7ef2738/Images/Documentation/image-XM40243N.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-07T02%3A06%3A24Z&se=2026-11-07T03%3A06%3A24Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=F3kD%2FKuKYnSk%2Bw5YttFF5Sd%2B2LbgAtGA0VJsl5WYTgg%3D) #### Access configuration Allows to fine-tune access to the BI Manager directly from its creation UI. Configure read/write permissions per application for any role. All permission changes are automatically synced to Access Management. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/a0786c0f-b171-4b24-8860-c32eb7ef2738/Images/Documentation/image-SDR8SHZ8.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-07T02%3A06%3A24Z&se=2026-11-07T03%3A06%3A24Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=F3kD%2FKuKYnSk%2Bw5YttFF5Sd%2B2LbgAtGA0VJsl5WYTgg%3D) #### Saving the app configuration When finishing the app configuration, the user can click save which will result on a newly created report in the draft edition state (see [Version control workflow](/product/docs/version-control-workflow-2) for more information on draft vs published version). The user can now create sections (see [Create/Edit a View & Section](/product/docs/createedit-a-view-section-2)), create a widget Grid (see [Create a Widget Grid](/product/docs/create-a-grid-2)), link datasource ( [Link Data Sources to Applications](/product/docs/link-data-sources-to-applications-2)) and add widgets (see [Widget Configurations](/product/docs/widget-configurations-2)) . Next step after creating a report is to configure it. See [Configure a Report](/product/docs/configure-a-report-2)
