It serves as a foundational asset for collecting, organizing, analyzing, and visualizing operational and performance data related to electrically connected groups of batteries. Each Battery Container is uniquely identified and associated with a parent Energy Storage Site and PCS, forming part of the broader asset hierarchy of a battery energy storage system (BESS). ### Functional Description A Battery Container is typically a modular enclosure housing multiple battery racks, thermal management systems, fire suppression equipment, and monitoring sensors. These containers are designed to store electrical energy in chemical form and support bidirectional power flow when paired with Power Conversion Systems (PCS). Battery Containers are typically deployed in scalable configurations and connected to PCS units via DC Bus systems. Battery Containers are modeled as sub-assets within a logical Energy Storage Site. They inherit site-level attributes and contribute to aggregated metrics such as total stored energy, discharge rate, and availability. Each container may be linked to specific PCS units, battery racks, and environmental sensors. In Bazefield, the Battery Container object type enables monitoring, control, and reporting at the container level. It supports asset-level diagnostics, lifecycle tracking, and performance analytics, and contributes to site-level KPIs and compliance reporting. > Bazefield allows flexibility in modeling Battery Containers to accommodate various OEM configurations and naming conventions. The Battery Container asset type provides a consistent framework for any electrically connected group of battery racks that feed into a PCS and provide aggregated State of Charge, cell temperature and voltage metrics, etc. ## Core Data Model While the configuration of Battery Containers may vary by vendor and chemistry (e.g., lithium-ion, flow batteries), Bazefield offers a pre-installed *CORE* data model to account for the most common points and attributes relevant to all container types. Model-specific variations are handled through smart [Model Inheritance](/product/docs/asset-model). ### Core Attributes Attributes are fixed key-value pairs used to represent non-time series data associated with each asset (read more about [Attributes](/product/docs/attributes)). While attribute values can differ from asset to asset, critical shared (i.e., *CORE*) attributes defining a Battery Container asset type, pre-installed in Bazefield, are described below. Required for basic Bazefield Core functionality Optional attributes for common additional modelling *Depending on your version of Bazefield, there may be additional advanced attributes not listed here to support data integrations or migrations with other systems.* | Name | Key | Description | Default Value | | | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | | Latitude | latitude | GPS coordinates for the battery container using WGS 84 system in decimal | - | | | Longitude | longitude | GPS coordinates for the battery container using WGS 84 system in decimal | - | | | Time Zone | timeZone | Local time zone where the battery container is located | - | | | Rated Power | ratedPower | Maximum AC power output of the battery container in kW | - | | | Maximum Energy Capacity (kWh) | energyCapacity | Nameplate maximum Energy Capacity (kWh) | - | | | Fully Charged Threshold (%) | fullyChargedThreshold | SOC threshold for the battery container to be considered fully charged (e.g., 95% or greater is fully charged) | 95 | | | Fully Discharged Threshold (%) | fullyDischargedThreshold | SOC threshold for the battery container to be considered fully discharged (e.g., 5% or less is fully discharged) | 5 | | | Charging Threshold (kW) | chargingThreshold | Power threshold for the battery container to be considered Charging and not idle, e.g., -50 = PCS considered charging when output is less than -50kW. (The default value of -50 is generally a good starting point, but must be tuned per inverter model.) | -50 | | | Discharging Threshold (kW) | dischargingThreshold | Power threshold for the battery container to be considered Discharging and not idle, e.g., 50 = PCS considered discharging when output is greater than 50kW. (The default value of 50 is generally a good starting point, but must be tuned per inverter model.) | 50 | | ### Certified Product Templates This section lists the common, shared point, event, and other data templates applicable to the Battery Container asset type pre-installed by the Bazefield product team.
