Introduction

Description

The Asset Summarized Metrics Widget displays point values for multiple assets in a structured grid format. These values can be sourced directly from SCADA systems, derived through computations, or aggregated over time based on the BI App time range. Row aggregations can be computed on the fly to show cross-asset summaries. The widget provides a compact and comparative view of asset-level metrics, enabling users to monitor performance, identify anomalies, and support operational decision-making.

Purpose

This widget is designed to help renewable energy professionals quickly assess the status and performance of assets across Solar, Wind, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). By presenting key metrics in a tabular layout, it supports both high-level fleet monitoring and detailed asset diagnostics.

Target Audience

  • Business Users: Plant managers, asset owners, and operations leads who need a clear overview of asset performance.

  • Technical Users: Engineers, analysts, and system architects configuring dashboards and reports for real-time and historical data visibility.

Key Features & Use Cases

1. Grid-Based Asset View

Displays metrics for multiple assets in a clean, sortable grid format.

Use Case – Solar Site Monitoring
A dashboard shows inverter-level AC output across all solar arrays. The grid allows quick comparison to identify underperforming units.

2. Multiple Data Sources

Supports raw SCADA values, calculated metrics, and aggregated data (e.g., daily averages, totals).

Use Case – Wind Farm Performance Summary
A report displays daily average wind speed and energy output for each turbine, helping analysts correlate environmental conditions with production.

3. Customizable Columns

Users can select which metrics to display, such as power output, temperature, fault count, or efficiency.

Use Case – BESS Health Overview
A dashboard grid shows state-of-charge, temperature, and fault count for each battery module, enabling maintenance teams to prioritize inspections.

4. Sorting & Filtering

Sort assets by metric values or filter by asset type, location, or performance thresholds.

Use Case – Fleet-Wide Fault Analysis
An operations lead filters the grid to show only assets with fault counts above a defined threshold, streamlining issue tracking.

Data Types Used

The Asset Summarized Metrics Widget supports a variety of renewable energy data types, including:

  • Raw SCADA Values – Real-time readings such as voltage, current, temperature, or status flags.

  • Computed Metrics – Derived values like efficiency, fault rate, or performance ratio.

  • Aggregated Data – Summarized metrics over time (e.g., daily energy output, average temperature).

  • Asset Identifiers – Asset name, type, location, or group for contextual organization.

These data types enable comprehensive monitoring across diverse asset classes and operational conditions.

Widget Use in BI App Types

Use in Dashboards

In dashboards, the Asset Summarized Metrics Widget provides real-time visibility into asset performance. It supports quick scanning and comparison across assets, helping operations teams detect issues and optimize performance.

Example – Solar Operations Dashboard
A dashboard displays real-time AC output and fault status for each inverter in a solar plant. The grid layout allows managers to spot anomalies and dispatch maintenance crews efficiently.

Use in Reports

In reports, the widget supports historical performance summaries and fleet-wide comparisons. It helps stakeholders review trends, validate KPIs, and support strategic planning.

Example – Monthly Wind Farm Report
A report includes a grid showing average daily output and fault frequency for each turbine. This helps asset managers evaluate reliability and plan upgrades or replacements.
